2010 Teal ribbon 5k

DOCF's major fundraiser was a successful event this year with beautiful weather and over 650 participants and volunteers in attendence.  Christiana Care's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center (HFGCC) was the major sponsor of this year's event.

Speakers included Rep. William Oberle and Senator Karen Peterson, both whom have had loved ones affected by ovarian cancer.  Dr. Mark Cadungog of the HFGCC also spoke to the crowd and offered words of encouragement. Ted Killheffer, husband and caregiver, spoke about his wife's difficult 3 1/2 year journey with recurrent ovarian cancer.

Several large teams were formed and participated in honor or in memory of loved ones.  The largest of these teams, also with the most funds raised, was Fran's Family and Friends, in honor of ovarian cancer survivor, Fran Killheffer.

One of the highlights of the 2010 Run/Walk was the release of 25 doves, provided by Thompson's Bird Farm, in memory of the many wonderful ladies who have lost their battle with ovarian cancer.

The 2010 event raised more than $25,000 to help DOCF meet its mission.
